I absolutely love chocolate… So you can understand my surprise (and excitement) when I stumbled upon a cute chocolate shop in downtown Savannah, Ga!

When you enter the shop, you are bombarded with a lot to take in. The carpet is green, resembling grass. There are beautiful antique books on travel and science, world clocks, encyclopedias, globes and bags of chocolates on bookshelves. It looks chaotic, like a hodgepodge of disarray. But it somehow all forms together as beautiful art. It’s supposed to be this way. It does not take long to see that this heavily resembles a library.

As you walk closer, you notice that inside of the bookcases are an assortment of exquisitely decorated chocolate truffles! Some are dusted with gold flakes, while others take the shape of a tree. All are handcrafted and look absolutely delicious. Towards the end of the shop is the creation space. This is where chocolatier experts create these delectable treats.

Walking through the shop feels magical. Special and inviting. It’s a small space as far as square feet go, but a place where you want to kind of hang out because there is so much to look at.

I’m so enchanted by this place. I’m a sucker for time, themes and intricate detail- all of which I saw here. So, of course I did my research.

As someone who is fascinated with generation charts, I love the backstory of how a Gen-Xer and a Millennial met, creatively put their talents together and brought forth this unique concept of a chocolate shop. The story begins at a dinner party. Meet Alexandria Trujillo, a Mexican born Savannah socialite and party curator also known as the HRH Duchess of state (her personal story is pretty fascinating). She is seated next to Adam Turoni, a shy millennial of Italian descent from Pennsylvania.  They enjoy each other’s company and Alexandria invites him to a cocktail party that she is hosting.  When he arrives, he brings with him a hostess gift of a small box of chocolates. Alexandria is impressed by the craftsmanship and presentation of the gift but even more taken aback that he, this shy young man, is the creator of the beautiful chocolates.

The two put their talents together and from that came the Chocolat by Adam Turoni chocolate shop. What I think is so cute about their partnership is that most Gen-Xers are critical thinkers and make-it-happen type people. They are resourceful and individualistic (which probably accounts for different themes at all locations). Most Millennials are technologically inclined and value motivation and teamwork. They want everyone to feel like they are a part of something greater than themselves. I can probably guess that this is the magic sauce that makes you feel so welcomed when you enter.

They currently have three locations, all with unique themes. Two in Savannah, GA; The Library and the Chocolate Dining Room and The Chocolate Orangerie in Charleston, SC.

I very much enjoy visiting quaint, creative shops such as this one. It is a perfect mix of art and culture. Each truffle ranges from $2-$5 each and of course you can purchase boxes and bags.

If you happen to find yourself in Savannah, which I hope you do because it’s a lovely city, make sure to visit the shop.
